David Escudé confirms Jimmy Gressier's attendance at the 2022 Race Nassos

» The traditional Cursa dels Nassos will be held on December 31 on the Barcelona seafront, and will have two modes, 10K for popular athletes and 5K for the international elite, a distance where two records were broken last year of the world still valid.

Sports councilor David Escude confirms the participation in the 2022 Cursa dels Nassos of Jimmy Gressier, champion of the 5 kilometers in the 2020 race and second place in the continental ranking for the same distance: "An unforgettable Cursa dels Nassos awaits us. We work to bring together the best athletes in the world and give Barcelona a top-level popular sports event. We want to keep breaking records, we want everyone to take to the streets and celebrate New Year's in the most sporting way possible. It is a pleasure to announce that the champion of the Race of the Noses 2020, Jimmy Gressier, joins the brothers Ingebrigsten (Jakob, Henrik and Filip) and Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal as favorites for the 2022 edition of the Race of the Noses.

The French athlete, national 5 kilometer record holder and Olympian, broke the European 5 kilometer route record on February 16, 2020 in Monaco with a time of 13:18. He is currently second in the continental ranking, since only the Italian Yemaneberhan Crippa has been able to improve his mark with 13:14, a time that Gressier aims to improve on December 31 when, accompanied by Jakob Ingebrigsten, they both try to break the record of 'Europe.

At just 25 years old, the athlete has been a three-time European cross-country champion under 20 (2017, 2018 and 2019). In addition, he managed to hang two golds in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the 2019 European U23 Championship. Last year, he also became fourth in the world ranking in the 10 km road (27:43) . After triumphing again with a bronze at the European cross country in Dublin 2021, a race won by Ingebrigsten, and fulfilling his dream of becoming an Olympian at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (13th in the 5,000 meters), Gressier will return to the Cursa dels Nassos this December 31, ready to surpass himself once more.
